Independence Mode in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition
Independence is a new late-game option for European civilizations. Each nation that picks it can build 2 Forts and 1 Battleship in Age 3 and 2 Factories in Age 4, and all advanced Arsenal and Church technologies are available. On top of that shared package, every civilization gets its own cards, bonuses and unique units that reflect its break from the Old World.
Ottomans

The Ottoman version of Independence leans on elite infantry and cavalry, adding Sipahi and Nizam Fusilier. Three cards come with it: Palace Intrigue, Acemi Oglan School and Akincis, each switching to Active status. Artillery gets +10% hitpoints, which suits the empire’s gunpowder tradition. Barbary Warriors become much tougher, with +30% damage and hitpoints, while Corsair Marksmen and Xebecs reinforce the naval side.
British

Britain’s package is built around the Glorious Revolution, Florence Nightingale, Admiralty, Fulling Mills and Agents. Grenadiers deal +10% damage, and Longbowmen gain the ability to attack siege units. Factories cost 40% less wood and 40% less coin, which speeds up an industrial boom. Bagpipers and Drummers join the army to round out a classic British force.
Danish

Denmark receives the cards Kongeloven, Safehouses and Oldenburg Kings. War Ships cost 25% less wood, which makes the navy more affordable. Round Churches gain +3 build limit, allowing a stronger religious economy. The roster is varied, with Whaling Ships, Harpooners, Order Hospitallers, Espingols and Zealand Bosniaks all unlocked.
Dutch

The Dutch gain Religious Freedom, Advanced Dock, Advanced Trading Post and the Peace of Münster. The economy is the focus: Banks gain +2 build limit and Merchants gain +10, while Villagers work Estates and Mines 10% faster. War Ships and Hand Infantry both move 15% faster. Blue Guards and Red Lancers provide the unique military punch.
French

France brings the largest card selection: Edict of Nantes, Colbertism, Hot Air Balloons, Engineering School, Cent-Suisses, Ancien Régime and French Royal Army. Unlike some other nations, it gets no stat modifiers, relying purely on cards and units. Royal Horsemen and Horse Carabiniers are the two cavalry options. This makes the French variant flexible and card-driven.
Germans

The Germans receive the Treaty of Westphalia, Prince-Electors, Mercenary Camps and Ranching. Houses increase the population cap by 10, and Mercenaries gain +20% hitpoints. The nation’s military identity shines through Veteran Prinz Chevaulegers and Leib Fusiliers. Together these bonuses favor a large, hired-gun army.
Poles (Commonwealth)

The Polish package includes the Treaty of Lublin, Kielbasa, Wódka Distillery, Polish Cavalry Combat, Raiding Economy and Royal Union. Cavalry builds 20% faster, and Democracy of Nobles becomes Obtainable. Factories are limited to 1 and Churches are restricted entirely, pushing a very different playstyle. Serdyuks, Konfederatka Uhlans, Vistula Legionaries and Vistula Riflemen are all unlocked.
Portuguese

Portugal gets the Treaty of Tordesillas, Feitorias, Carracks, Naval Infantry and Donatarios. Its strengths are expressed through units rather than raw statistics. Falconets, Acobertados and the Independence Dragoon all become available. The result is a naval-minded faction with solid ranged and mounted support.
Russians

The Russian Independence cards are Reformist Tsar, Sawmills, Dueling School, Assassins, Sovnya and Grenade Launchers. They unlock the Counter Dragoon and the Counter Jaeger, two specialist units designed to answer enemy cavalry and skirmishers. Like France, the Russians get no statistical modifiers. Their appeal lies in the card synergy and anti-unit tools.
Spanish

Spain has one of the most heavily buffed packages, with cards such as Royal Decree to Claim the New World, Caballeros, Llama Ranching, Unction, Capitalism and Armada. All technologies cost 20% fewer research points, upgrades another 10% less, and Villagers gain +15% hitpoints. Battleships get +1 build limit, while War Ships and Forts build 30% faster. Conquistadors, Soldados and Mounted Granaderos make up the new military options.
Swedes

Sweden gets the Treaty of Roskilde, Blueberries, Case Shot, Cronstedt Reforms, Schooners and Engelsberg Ironworks. Royal Arquebusiers are unlocked with no build limit, giving the Swedes a flexible, spammable core army. Karelian Jaegers and Prospector Wagons also arrive, the latter capped at 1. This gives Sweden a mix of mobile skirmishers and an economic edge.
